The disadvantage of HbA1c is that it changes slowly. So any change you make to your diet, exercise or medication will take 6 weeks to show its effect, and the full impact of doing something different might not be visible for 2-3 months.
HbA1c is your average blood glucose (sugar) level for the last two to three months. If you have diabetes, an ideal HbA1c level is 48mmol/mol (6.5%) or below.
For people without diabetes, the normal range for the hemoglobin A1c level is between 4% and 5.6%.
