The glucose tolerance test is a lab test to check how well your body moves sugar from the blood into tissues like muscle and fat
During pregnancy, your body makes more hormones and goes through other changes, such as weight gain. These changes cause your body's cells to use insulin less effectively. Hence, a glucose tolerance test is mandatory to check for gestational diabetes.
People are recommended to take glucose test to prevent and to monitor existing conditions which can cause complications such as impaired sight and renal functions.
Impaired glucose tolerance is defined as a 2-hour post meal glucose level between 140 and 200 mg/dL during the oral glucose tolerance test.
It is advised not to take medications before glucose test until and unless advised by a physician
