This test measures the percentage of red blood cells in the blood which carry oxygen to all parts of the body. It also helps diagnose certain conditions which are caused due to too many or few red blood cells such as anemia.
Hemoglobin and hematocrit are both red blood cell measurements that are used to help diagnose nutritional deficiencies, chronic illnesses and medical conditions such as anemia.
Macrocytic anemia causes low RWD in a hematology test.
One can lower hematocirt levels by avoiding iron supplements and excessive consumption of alcohol. Instead one should stay hydrated and take bran daily to keep hematocit levels in check.
