What is a liver test?
Liver function tests are blood tests that measure different enzymes, proteins, and other substances made by the liver.

Bilirubin results depend on your age, gender, and health. Normal bilirubin levels are generally less than 1 milligram per deciliter (mg/dL). Adults with jaundice generally have bilirubin levels greater than 2.5mg/dL.
Once in the liver, glucuronic acid is added to unconjugated bilirubin by the enzyme glucuronyl transferase. This forms conjugated bilirubin, which is soluble. This allows conjugated bilirubin to be excreted into the duodenum in bile.
Things to look for are liver diseases and regular monitoring of any existing conditions such as jaundice, hepatitis or cirrhosis.
A total protein and albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio test measures the total amount of protein in your blood.
If your total protein level is low, you may have a liver or kidney problem, or it may be that protein isn't being digested or absorbed properly.
