Why does pyruvate turn into lactate?
Pyruvate is converted into lactic acid in anaerobic respiration (without the use of oxygen) where an NADH donates the H+ to pyruvate to produce lactic acid.

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme found in most living organisms. It is the enzyme responsible for the conversion of pyruvate. if your levels are high then you may be suffering from a number of conditions which can be kidney, lung, or heart diseases. Consult with a doctor if you have more than normal levels of LDH.
LDH exists in 5 isoenzymes. Each isoenzyme has a slightly different structure and is found in different concentrations in different tissues. For example, LDH-1 is found mostly in red blood cells and heart muscle. LDH-3 is concentrated in the lungs, although it is also found in other tissues.
A liver infection, or liver scarring may cause the liver not to function properly.
The function of helicase enzyme is to seperate two strands of DNA. It is also known as the cutter. It helps in the formation of a replication fork.
