You might also have a blood test to look at the level of a chemical called alpha fetoprotein (AFP). This might be higher than normal in some types of liver cancer.

The severity of the liver injury from ibuprofen ranges from asymptomatic elevations in serum aminotransferase levels to acute cholestatic hepatitis to acute liver failure and the need for transplantation. Hence, you should take ibuprofen only if you have been prescribed.
The most common liver tests are liver enzyme tests. Your liver enzymes include alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT).
