On my blood test, my glucose level was an 85. Is this bad?
No 85mg/dl is not bad. It comes within normal range.

Yes, weight loss helps in reversing prediabetes along with diet control
Losing weight with insulin resistance is more difficult because your body converts blood sugar into fat instead of energy
Diabetics lose weight as there is no insulin available to move glucose into the body's cells, glucose builds up in the bloodstream. The kidneys then work to remove this unused sugar through urination. The sugar is not used as energy, so the body starts burning fat and muscle for energy, resulting in weight loss
Eat low carbs and lean proteins and exercise well. Dont forget to take your medications on time.
If your fasting levels are 100mg/dl or less then you are normal. If they are more than 100-125mg/dl then you fall into prediabetes. If they are more than 140mg/dl then you fall under the diabetic zone.
